MHD wave diffraction by layered MHD media
Abstract
The problem of MHD wave diffraction by two plane parallel layers in a perfectly conducting medium with a constant magnetic field is solved by using integral equations of magnetohydrodynamics. The solution procedure consists of two stages: first, integral Fredholm equations of the second kind are solved to determine the internal fields from a given incident field, and the internal fields are then used to obtain an expression for the scattering field. An analysis is also presented for internal and external diffraction problems for Alfven waves and accelerated and slow magnetoacoustic waves.
