Conserving the circus? An alternative approach to teaching and learning about energy
Abstract
The authors take a critical look at an approach to the introduction of ideas of energy transformation and conservation which is in common use in secondary schools: the 'energy circus'. Some difficulties, both practical and conceptual, are identified and an alternative approach, which has been used successfully in introducing ideas about energy in the classroom, is outlined.
