Investigations of the modeling of digital mobile radio communication channels
Abstract
The statistical error behavior of binary mobile radio communication channels and their description by modeling based on simple digital channel models were investigated. The digital channel models are based on stationary Markov chains, and are fully characterized by a few parameters. Channel modeling consists of the determination of channel parameters by numerical optimization methods in such a way that the error statistics of the channel model agree with the measured bit error rates. Channel modeling methods are compared. It is shown that the different channel models are well suited for the modeling of different bit error measuring data, depending on the conditions; the most suited model has to be selected for each case.
