XeCl laser with a lasing energy of 150 J
Abstract
A 150-J XeCl laser is reported which is excited by two counterpropagating electron beams normal to the optical axis. The main components of the laser and the principle of its operation are described. Output energy density distributions are shown graphically for two different Ar:Xe:HCl mixture compositions (1600:10:1 and 1000:10:1). For the distributions shown, the full laser energy is 100 and 150 J for voltages of 80 and 100 kV, respectively.
