Petrology and geochemistry of olivine-normative and quartz-normative basalts from regolith breccia 15498: new diversity in Apollo 15 mare basalts.
Abstract
The data presented in this paper document a greater diversity in Apollo 15 mare basalts than was recognized in earlier studies and provide important new constraints on mare basalt petrogenesis. The wider range of basalt tpyes allows the authors to identify potential parent magmas, test interrelationships between sample groups, and define probable lines of descent.
