The stimulated emission of VUV radiation in mercury vapor due to seventh- and ninth-order nonlinearities
Abstract
Results are presented of theoretical and experimental studies into the stimulated emission of VUV radiation in processes of the parametric mixing of neodymium laser radiation frequencies in mercury vapor due to higher-order nonlinearities. The interference of nonlinear polarizations of the seventh nonresonant and ninth resonant orders was investigated. The studies of the frequency dependence of the breakdown threshold (the major limiting factor) made it possible to associate the threshold reduction with the replacement of ten-photon ionization by nine-photon ionization.
