The description of joints in multibody systems
Abstract
Computer simulations of multibody mechanical systems (such as those presented by Schwertassek and Roberson, 1983 and 1986) are discussed in a brief analytical review. The models considered comprise a reference system, a number of rigid elements, and joints (among elements and between elements and the reference system). The derivation of the governing equations is outlined, and the parameters required to characterize the joints are listed.
