Polaron effects and quantum interference during resonant electron tunneling
Abstract
A solution is presented for the problem of the resonant transit of an electron through a system of two barriers for an arbitrary value of lattice-electron interaction in the interbarrier region. It is shown that the transit of an electron wave through the resonator formed by the barriers is accompanied by the dynamic evolution of hybridized electron-phonon states of the polaron type. The results obtained are used in interpreting the data of low-temperature resonant tunneling experiments.
