Continued design of a Pointing, Acquisition, and Tracking (PAT) subsystem for InterSatellite Laser links (ISL2)
Abstract
For intersatellite communication via laser links, Pointing, Acquisition and Tracking (PAT) subsystem development was initiated. The specifications were revised and the highly precise mechanism, as well as the associated drive and control electronics of the PAT subsystem were developed. Critical points were investigated with the aid of computer simulations. The replacement of the optical nutator assembly by the point ahead assembly was examined and seems to be promising. The development of hardware progressed to the extent that the integration of mechanisms and the tests can be carried out.
