Development and implementation of a space nuclear safety program
Abstract
Safety has been, and must continue to be, an integral part of the design and development of any space nuclear power system. The primary safety objective is to minimize the potential interaction of the radioactive materials with Earth's population and environment. This objective can be met by a combination of system design, operational constraints, and emergency planning. Space nuclear power reactor safety is further explored.
