A new method for determination of gas density from differential interferograms
Abstract
A new method for determining density from differential interferograms has been developed. With this method, the fringe shift function of a differential interferogram is first transformed into that of the corresponding absolute interferogram. Then, the density distribution of the flow field can be determined with the existing methods for calculating the absolute interferograms. The method has been applied to a differential interferogram from an axisymmetric flow field with a good result. In principle, the method can be applied to the three-dimensional flow fields as well.
