Binary hot subdwarfs in the Palomar Green Survey.
Abstract
BVRI photometry was obtained for 100 binary subdwarfs in the Palomar Green (PG) survey with the KPNO 1.3-m telescope between October 1985 and September 1986. Coupling of the results to available Stromgren data permits the construction of complete optical energy distributions which can provide information on the nature of the secondary star. It is found that nearly 50 percent of the hydrogen-rich subdwarfs in the PG survey are in unresolved binaries with secondaries in the range G8-M6.
