Dynamic structure of a coupled fluid-structure system
Abstract
The free-interface dynamic substructure technique for pure structural dynamic analysis is extended to the case of a coupled fluid-structure system. Given the satisfaction of two accurate compatibility conditions simultaneously, an efficient method is obtained for the rapid extraction of fluid-structure coupling natural vibration modes involving a large number of degrees-of-freedom at the fluid-structure interface. The numerical results obtained exhibit excellent agreement with experiment, despite the great reduction in computational effort achieved.
