Superconducting properties and structural characterization of high T/sub c/ oxides
Abstract
A desire to provide good quality oxide superconducting specimens for research requires careful characterization of samples. Earlier, straightforward methods for preparation of La sub 2-x Sr sub x CuO sub 4 and YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 superconductors were described. However, these methods are not completely defined, and samples prepared nominally according to recipe may vary in superconducting properties and with respect to the presence of nonsuperconducting minority phases (primarily observed in X-ray diffraction work). Here we describe methods of preparation for these oxides which we utilized, and of techniques used to evaluate these materials.
