Evolution of current-aligned three-dimensional perturbations of glow discharge conductivity to a contracted filament
Abstract
The self-evolution of specially generated extended perturbations of plasma column conductivity to a contracted filament in a transverse stationary discharge in nitrogen and air is investigated experimentally. The initial state of the glow discharge is a priori stable in a linear approximation of contraction. Theoretical estimates are made concerning the conditions of the evolution of the perturbations to a filament.
