Fully turbulent internal flow excitation of pipe systems
Abstract
The excitation of pipe systems due to the internal flow turbulence is examined. The response of a pipe structure excited by a fully turbulent internal flow is described in terms of a forcing function dependent on the turbulence pressure spectrum and the corresponding functions of the correlation areas, and the mechanical mobility of the pipe structure. The resulting form of the pipe response is examined for both air and water flow with comparisons being made to previously published analytical and experimental results.
