On the calculation of the velocity of the nodes in the multidimensional Lagrangian codes
Abstract
The apparent paradox of multidimensional Lagrangian codes experiencing mesh tangling on one dimensional irrotational flows is investigated. The cause to the generation of spurious vorticity by a nonuniform mesh is discussed. Two methods of constructing Lagrangian velocities by removing, or filtering out, the spurious vorticity, rather than by the introduction of artificial viscosity, are proposed.
