The effect of layered dielectric coatings on the absorbing properties of bounded plasmalike media
Abstract
The penetration of radiation into a plasmalike medium in the presence of a dielectric layer on its surface is studied theoretically. A numerical analysis of the effect of dielectric coatings on the absorption of electromagnetic waves by a semibounded metal in the anomalous skin-effect region is presented. The results obtained are relevant to the study of the optical properties of metals with oxide and dielectric films, and to the investigation of the laser treatment of metals.
