Dynamics of a rigid body during impact
Abstract
The motion of an absolutely rigid body during impact is analyzed. An analogy between the motion of a rigid body during impact and the motion of a rigid body in a liquid is established based on the fact that in both cases the effect of the inertial properties of the rigid body on its motion is determined by three second order surfaces. The necessary conditions for the occurrence of tangential shock are formulated with allowance for shock impulses at the point of contact.
