Bistability in hybrid acoustoelectronic systems
Abstract
Earlier papers (Viun et al., 1986) have reported on the bistability of acoustoelectronic phenomena in layered piezoelectric-semiconductor structures in the repetitively pulsed SAW mode and in the CW mode for structures connected into a ring system. In the present study, bistability is demonstrated, for the first time, for hybrid acoustooptic systems, which are characterized by strong nonlinearity at sufficiently small input signal levels. Results are presented for a structure based on a textured piezoelectric tin oxide film (1.8 micron thick) grown on an n-type silicon substrate with a dielectric sublayer of silicon dioxide.
