Photoresponse of a metal-semiconductor structure during the excitation of surface polaritons by TE-polarized light
Abstract
The excitation of surface polaritons by TE-polarized and circularly polarized light in a one-dimensional diffraction grating was demonstrated experimentally using a photoresponse technique applied to a metal-semiconductor structure (a Schottky diode). The polaritons were excited by light at wavelengths of the self-absorption of the semiconductor (0.6328 and 0.5145 micron). The photoresponse of the structure was measured as a function of the light incidence angle at fixed and different azimuth angles between the incidence plane and the grating vector.
