Gauge formulation of theories of relativistic particles and strings
Abstract
It is shown that the localization principle of linear canonical symmetries makes it possible to construct relativistic gauge theories of particles and strings based on nonrelativistic theories. A relativistic gauge theory is constructed for a system of N particles linked by harmonic forces. This theory can be quantized by standard methods.
