Digital all-fiber gyro with high scalefactor accuracy
Abstract
The optical setup and the signal processing scheme of an all-fiber gyro with a phase modulator and a linear digital output are described. The phase modulator is realized by winding six turns of the fiber around a piezoceramic cylinder; the modulation frequency is about 47 kHz. The scalefactor errors of the gyro do not exceed plus or minus 1.6 percent. A plot of the digital output of the gyro versus the applied rotation rate is presented. It is shown that the error does not exceed 1 percent even at a Sagnac phase shift only 0.14 deg away from the 90-deg phase shift.
