Specific heat anomaly at 220 K connected with superconductivity at 90 K in ceramic YBa2Cu3O(7-delta)
Abstract
High resolution measurements of specific heat are presented for four different samples of YBa2Cu3O(7-delta) which reveal an unsuspected anomaly at 220 K; the anomaly's size is related to the size of the jump at the 90-K superconducting transition. The results obtained establish that ordering phenomena occur in this compound at about 220 K, and may be pertinent to any understanding of reports of oxygen ordering and of various unstable superconducting transitions in the 150-200 K range.
