Improvement of the characteristics of a waveguide grating polarizer
Abstract
A new field of application of multilayered corrugated structures is discussed. Waveguide polarizers utilizing multilayered structures permit better suppression of TM-mode diffraction during simultaneous amplification of the TE mode diffraction radiation. The effects of corrugation-period, waveguide-structure parameter, and corrugation-line-shape variations, and resonant intermodal coupling on the performance of the waveguide grating polarizer are considered numerically.
