Pressure Generation by Sintered Diamond Multianvils
Abstract
Pressure generation was attempted by multianvils made of sintered diamond in “6-8 type” double-stage system, and the results were compared with those by WC-Co anvils. Pressure smoothly increased up to 22 GPa (the maximum pressure examined) with the increasing load of the press, whereas plastic deformation of WC-Co anvils resulted in a remarkable decrease in efficiency at pressures higher than ∼15 GPa.
