Ultimate performance of (Cd,Hg)Te photoelectromagnetic detectors of middle and far infrared
Abstract
The ultimate performance parameters of (Cd,Hg)Te photoelectromagnetic (PEM) detectors of middle- and far-IR radiation were evaluated assuming Auger 7 as the dominant recombination mechanism. It is shown that, in both the middle and the far IR regions, the limiting values of the voltage responsivity of (Cd,Hg)Te PEM detectors are higher, while the detectivity values are lower, than the respective values (Cd,Hg)Te Dember photodetectors. Within the range of medium frequencies, the detectivity of the PEM-type detectors is also lower than that of (Cd,Hg)Te photoresistors, while for low frequencies, the detectivity values of the PEM-type detectors are higher than those for photoresistors.
