Squeezed-state enhanced two-frequency interferometry
Abstract
In the present experiment for the demonstration of squeezed state-enhanced interferometry, a Mach-Zehnder instrument using differenced detection, with photodetectors possessing less-than-unit quantum efficiency, is analyzed. It is shown that, for a small investment of photons into the squeezing of the vacuum that enters the conventionally unused input port of the interferometer, sensitivity may be increased by a factor as large as 3, on the basis of state-of-the-art photodiodes with 96-percent efficiency and a squeeze power factor of 24.
