Infrared photodetector photon formalism: Extension and application
Abstract
The infrared photodetector photon formalism introduced in an earlier study is extended from the small signal case into a unified form covering all signal levels. The independent variables on which the characteristic noise parameters are based are examined in order to further extend the formalism. Application is illustrated by examples of conversion from conventional to photon parameters and by calculation of signal currents and signal-to-noise ratios for standard small and large signal infrared photodetector problems.
