Algorithms for image reconstruction after nonuniform sampling
Abstract
Techniques are examined which can be used to measure and correct, or at least to regularize, the irregularities of the sampling grid that are common with mechanical scanners. It is shown that a model of the scanner behavior can be built which uses only a few parameters which can be easily measured from the data themselves. Results obtained with the algorithm proposed here demonstrate the possiblity of increasing the equivalent precision of the scanner without any appreciable loss of resolution of the images. After the correction, the residual error can be less than one fourth of the original one.
