A new representation of adaptive antenna pattern
Abstract
A conventional array factor description of the adaptive antenna pattern is proposed which predicts the influence of jammer cancellation in terms of the pattern distortion. It is first shown that the calculation can be restricted to the linear space of the space vectors of the arriving signals, and a new representation of the filter vector is derived. In contrast to the eigenvector pattern, the present representation shows the connections of the array factor and the angles of incidence of the jammers in a direct manner. Based on the described model, the resolution of the auxiliary antenna array will be improved by a larger aperture, resulting in a growing number of antenna elements.
