Transient laminar forced convection in ducts with suddenly applied uniform wall heat flux
Abstract
The transient forced convection of a laminar, incompressible, thermally developing and hydrodynamically developed Newtonian flow inside both a circular tube and a parallel-plate channel subjected to a given wall heat flux is investigated. The analysis assumes constant physical properties and neglects axial conduction and viscous dissipation. Higher order solutions, in addition to the simplest lowest order solutions, are obtained using the generalized integral transform technique of Ozisik and Murray (1974) and the classical Laplace transformation.
