Anomalies in the energy flux of the magnetotelluric field
Abstract
An electromagnetic field model of geomagnetic pulsations in the form of a nonuniform plane wave is considered. It is demonstrated that, for specific relations between the wave directional parameter and the specific conductivity of the medium, the time-averaged vertical energy flux of a partial magnetic wave becomes negative. This effect can lead to the anomalously negative energy flux of the total field.
