Structural and electrical properties of the superconducting phase La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4
Abstract
A structural tetragonal-orthorhombic phase transition has been identified which precedes the onset of superconductivity in La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4 (x=0.1-0.3). The structural phase transition is close to a transition of the second kind and is attributed to the Jahn-Teller cooperative effect. The characteristic temperatures of the phase transition correlate with bends on the electrical resistance vs temperature curve.
