Effect of tropospheric electrical storms on the ionosphere
Abstract
An analysis of data obtained at the Borok observatory shows that the generation of tropospheric electric fields and VLF atmospherics, possibly due to convective air motions, produces riometric absorption at midlatitudes. It turns out that nonthunderstorm-type clouds play a significant role in the action of tropospheric phenomena on the ionosphere.
