Direct calculation of atmosphere transmissivity for infrared window from atmosphere parameters above sea surface
Abstract
In an 8-13-micron atmosphere infrared window, the atmospheric transmissivity is dependent upon the total moisture content of the atmospheric air column (W). A linear equation for the approximate calculation of W from the atmospheric moisture pressure above the sea surface and a calculative equation for the atmospheric transmissivity from W are presented. Combining the two equations, the atmospheric transmissivity in an infrared window can be calculated conveniently and directly from the measured values of atmospheric parameters above the sea surface.
