The antenna system of the Gissar heating stand
Abstract
The Gissar Astronomical Observatory heating stand for investigating the ionosphere is described. The stand consists of a high-power short-wave transmitter (4-29.9 MHz and 120-140 kW) and a co-phase vertical-radiation antenna system. The Gissar heating stand is specially designed to study nonlinear phenomena in the midlatitude ionsphere. The cophase antenna system makes possible a two-order-of-magnitude increase in the power of radio waves acting on the ionosphere. The technical characteristics of the antenna system are presented.
