Mathematical models of mixing and atomization
Abstract
Modeling decisions regarding the design of detailed mathematical models of mixing and atomization are discussed in relation to theory and observations on the subject. Three models are discussed, including a truly two-phase model for incompressible liquid and ideal gas. Laboratory and numerical experiments with these models are suggested for improving understanding of mixing and atomization processes. An early calculation is described which shows many observed and theoretical features of the atomization process.
