Motion of bubbles in a varying pressure field
Abstract
A multiple scale analysis is conducted which separates bubbly liquid flow variables into fast and slow components. The slow variations in the oscillation period and amplitude of the bubbles are determined by the requirement that no secular terms exist in any order of the equations of motion. A set of reduced differential equations is obtained which depends solely on the slowly varying independent variables. This procedure allows the use of large time steps in numerical computations.
