Nonlinear mechanism for VLF-emission bursts during pauses between electron pulses in the Araks experiment
Abstract
VLF-emission spectra during pauses between pulses of electrons injected from a rocket into the ionosphere in the Araks experiment are examined by comparing calculations and experimental data. It is shown that these spectra cannot be explained by a linear mechanism of VLF-wave emission by electrons in the magnetoplasma. Instead, a nonlinear mechanism for the formation of the VLF-emission bursts is proposed.
