Dual speed PN ranging system for deep space exploration
Abstract
This paper proposes a new PN ranging system, named the Dual Speed PN Ranging System, that transmits two different PN sequences simultaneously through a PSK/PSK dual speed communication channel. The Dual Speed PN Ranging System improves the maximum measurable range significantly, with no degradation of the acquisition time, when compared with usual PN ranging systems. According to the analysis, the tracking error of this system becomes as small as that of usual PN ranging systems when the input SNR is large enough.
