A powerful utility for assessing the performance of the ERS-1 synthetic aperture radar
Abstract
A suite of software programs, which enables the in-flight performance of ERS-1 SAR to be assessed from the results of measurements made on the instrument before launch, was developed. The individual parameters characterizing the performance models are discussed. The performance assessment models are described with reference to specific algorithms for the SAR image quality parameters. The expected in-flight SAR performance is assessed based on hardware data.
