Techniques of antenna beam compression
Abstract
The application of pulse compression technique in radar systems is well established for achieving a good range resolution. In the pulse compression technique a long coded pulse is transmitted and the received echo is processed in a matched filter or correlation receiver. The objective of the present paper is to use the above concept to realize antenna beam compression by suitable coding of the antenna beam and processing the received signal by matched filter or correlation processor. The paper outlines signal processing techniques to realize such a practical antenna system and the applications of such antennas in the field of radar.
