Microwave components for satellite systems
Abstract
The potential role of the Australian electronics industry in the design and manufacture of microwave components (MWCs) for satellite communication systems is examined, reviewing the results of R&D efforts undertaken at MITEC. The types of MWCs used for the Aussat spacecraft and ground station are listed; the capabilities of Australian industry are surveyed; and passive and active circuits developed at MITEC are illustrated with photographs and briefly characterized. It is concluded that Australian production of all the ground-station MWCs and some spacecraft MWCs is technologically and economically feasible.
