Numerical computation of separated and reattached flows
Abstract
A numerical and an experimental study is reported on the effect of varying the step angle of a backward-facing step flow on the reattachment process. Numerical solutions for the above geometry are obtained using the k-e turbulence model. The predicted reattachment lengths are compared with those obtained from flow visualization photographs using the smoke wire technique.
