Satellite navigation by stellar refraction
Abstract
An autonomous attitude control and navigation system based on the stellar refraction measurement principle is described. The system performs attitude and navigation estimation by using at least two star sensors and a three-axis gyroscope. Although the system described here is particularly adapted to a low-orbit satellite with a geocentric attitude, the principle is widely applicable. A computer simulation of the system proposed here and its hardware implementation are presented.
