Design techniques and applications of digital instantaneous frequency monitors
Abstract
Electronic Warfare (EM) Applications require the knowledge of hostile signal frequencies (in the microwave frequency spectrum) almost instantaneously. This paper describes a device which is used for this purpose and is referred to as a Digital Instantaneous Frequency Monitor (DIFM). Typical RF and digital techniques used in the design of DIFM's are discussed together with providing a basic understanding of commonly used terminology.
