The effect of inpurity local and quasi-local vibrational states on the thermodynamic and superconducting properties of metallic glasses
Abstract
The specific heats of the Mg70Zn30, (Mg70Zn30)95Pb5, Zr75Rh25 and (Zr75Rh25)93Be7 alloys in amorphous and metastable crystalline states are measured at temperatures between 2 and 700 K. In the vibrational specific heats of the ternary alloys (Mg70Zn30)95Pb5 and (Zr75Rh25)93Be7, in both the amorphous and metastable crystalline states, features are observed which are attributed to specific quasi-local and local vibrations of the impurity atoms Pb and Be, respectively. A comparative analysis is made of the perturbing effect of heavy and light impurity atoms in the amorphous and metallic crystalline phases on specific-heat temperature dependence and on the superconducting transition temperature.
