Using the schlieren method for studying the electric explosion of a lithium wire
Abstract
Schlieren images of the electric explosion of a lithium wire in a rarefied chlorine atmosphere are presented, and determinations are made of some gasdynamic parameters of the explosion (e.g., the expansion velocity of the reaction products and the shape of the shock wave front). The method used in the study is a direct schlieren method of inhomogeneity visualization, with a ruby laser used as a light source.
