Some investigations of electrical discharges at the surfaces of solid cathodes immersed in aqueous electrolyte solutions
Abstract
The visual and spectroscopic characteristics of cathodic submerged electrolytic arc discharges are described. The results of photographic observations and electrical measurements are discussed in relation to a model of the process in which current is transferred through a thin, insulating vapor film surrounding the cathode by means of a time varying distribution of short-lived arc discharges between the cathode surface and the vapor/electrolyte boundary.
